Our team of Local Experts:

Marianne Knight, Community Relations Director

Marianne Knight is a graduate of Cal State University Northridge with a degree in Health Administration. She has been working in the assisted living industry for over twenty years. Starting her career as an administrator of care facilities, she was responsible for the implementation of quality control in the direct care setting, and assisted to create policies for the care of those residents in specialized memory care and Alzheimer’s facilities. Many of these policies are still used industry-wide today. She and her husband Ken Knight started Ventura County Senior Living in 2001, Ventura County’s first, locally-based free referral service for seniors. Families in our community seeking senior care services contact Ventura County Senior Living daily. The Knights focus on providing referrals to only quality senior care organizations, and are proud to offer this free service to the community.

Marianne has been a member of the Executive Board of the Ventura County Homecare Association since 2010, and the Knights continue to support local organizations such as The Alzheimer’s Association and Senior Concerns. Ventura County Senior Living was also presented with the Ventura County Star’s Reader’s Choice Award in 2014 as one of the county’s Favorite Senior Care Services of area residents. Ken and Marianne have two children and are caregivers to aging parents. The Knights are both lifelong residents of Ventura County.

Ken Knight, Family Services Coordinator

Ken is a graduate of Chico State University and earned his B.S. in Business Administration.

Before co-founding Ventura County Senior Living, Ken spent nearly ten years educating teachers and administrators of school systems on how to plan for quality retirement and healthcare services. Ken quickly learned that families need advocacy and trusted advice when planning for their own care, and also assisting their aging loved ones.

In 1997, Ken’s father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Ken became a caregiver and a great support for both of his parents as they experienced this life-changing transition. Ken’s personal experience and professional background are necessary qualities for someone who works with families every day, guiding them toward their options, and being a trusted advocate.

People who we work with say…

I can’t thank you enough
“I can’t thank you enough for the help you gave me. Our family was deeply distressed to learn that our mother could not return home after going to the hospital. The difficult decision to move our mother out of her home was unbearable for our family. The information provided by Marianne in the hospital made it easier for us to move forward as a family. We felt confident that we were doing the right thing for mom. After mom was settled into her new care facility, Marianne checked back with us to be sure we were happy with her care. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for you all.”
